Course Description

This course supports students? understanding of theories that support the practice of negotiation and conflict resolution. These include the recognition of situations that call for bargaining, the elements of bargaining, and processes to analyze, plan and implement successful negotiations. Students will learn to integrate analytical skills, negotiation techniques and conflict resolution strategies in healthcare organizations. Reviews of case studies, role playing and group discussions will strengthen the students? skills in conflict resolution and negotiations. Student will also explore covert and overt causes of conflict, methods of analyzing conflicts, and approaches to prevent or resolve conflict.
