Merit Scholarships

Fall 2024

Starting with the 2024-25 academic year, the following academic based RMU Merit Scholarships are awarded through the Admissions Office based on academic achievements at the point of admission to the university.

Undergraduate freshmen applicants

  • $22,000 with a weighted GPA of 4.0 and above
  • $20,000 with a weighted GPA of 3.99 - 3.40
  • $17,000 - $10,000 with a weighted GPA of 3.39 - 2.5

Undergraduate transfer applicants

  • $16,000 with a transfer college GPA above 3.25 
  • $15,000 with a transfer college GPA of 3.00 - 3.24
  • $13,000 with a transfer college GPA of 2.50 - 2.99
  • $7,000 with a transfer college GPA of 2.30 - 2.49
  • $5,000 with a transfer college GPA below 2.30

Calculate Total Net Cost

Students are notified of their eligibility for institutional scholarships and grants at the point of admission. Students may receive the above listed institutional scholarships for a maximum of four years as long as an overall 2.0 GPA is maintained. For additional renewal criteria, please review the RMU Institutional Aid policy.

    Need-Based Grants

    Below is a list of need-based aid that is available to students at Robert Morris University.  These need-based forms of aid are considered grants and do not have to be repaid.  Please contact the Financial Aid Office if you have any questions.

    Federal Grants

    Pell Grants
    The Pell Grant Program provides need based grants to low-income students.  Grant amounts are dependent on: the student's expected family contribution (EFC); the cost of attendance (as determined by the institution); the student's enrollment status (full-time or part-time); and whether the student attends for a full academic year or less.

    Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
    The Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant is a program for undergraduates with exceptional financial need.  Please contact the Financial Aid office for further information.

    State Grants

    PA State Grant (Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency)

    The PA State Grant Program offers financial assistance to eligible Pennsylvania undergraduate students to help meet the costs of higher education. The FAFSA serves as the program's application.

    PA State Grant Qualifications

    Please note the following, in addition to the program qualifications in the above link:

    • Students enrolled in fully online programs or who are taking greater then 50% online instructions are potentially PA State Grant eligible, however, due to limited resources, your eligibility will be reduced when compared to awards calculated for attendance less than or equal to 50% distance education.

    • For students taking eight week courses, you must be enrolled in both eight week sessions to be eligible.

    International Student Scholarships

    Starting with the 2023-2024 academic year, the following academic based RMU Merit Scholarships are awarded through the Admissions Office based on academic achievements at the point of admission to the university.

    International Freshmen Applicants:

    • $20,000 with a weighted GPA of 4.0 and above
    • $18,000 with a weighted GPA of 3.50 - 3.99
    • $15,000 with a weighted GPA of 3.25 - 3.49
    • $13,000 with a weighted GPA of 2.90 - 3.24
    • $10,000 with a weighted GPA of 2.50 - 2.89
    • $7,000 with a weighted GPA of 2.00 - 2.49

    International Transfer Applicants:

    • $16,000 Transfer college GPA of 3.25 to 4.0.
    • $14,000 Transfer college GPA of 3.0 to 3.24.
    • $12,000 Transfer college GPA of 2.5 to 2.99.
    • $5,000 Transfer college GPA less than 2.5.
