Area of Expertise/Research- The focus of my research are Industry Management Standards, including quality (ISO 9000), environmental (ISO 14000), safety (HACCP), accreditation (AACSB) and inter-organizational (CPFR, HIPAA) standards. The main objective is to answer the following question: How can organizations implementing different types of standards use them to enhance the competitiveness of their operations? The scope of my research includes the processes of adoption, diffusion, implementation, and outcomes of standards. I believe that standards are created to improve the operational performance. However, because of their technical and social complexity, standards are implemented in different ways, and the outcomes of their implementation sometimes do not match the intended purpose. My research goal is to identify the factors that influence the success or failure of a standard and I intend to continue working in this area in the future.
