Course Description

This course is designed to provide an in-depth and broad survey of addictions and substance abuse treatment. We will examine major categories of substances of abuse, theories regarding addiction as well as the primary models of intervention. Counseling approaches, techniques and strategies will be introduced to complement lectures and other materials. The student will develop a thorough understanding of addiction and its impact across all client populations, even in non-drug and alcohol settings, and its implications for society as a whole. 3 Credits
