Course Description

Healthcare Finance I: Introduction to Healthcare Financial Analysis and Decision-Making. This course introduces students to the concepts of Healthcare Financial Analysis and Decision-Making. Basic financial accounting principles provide an understanding of the language, concepts, processes, and key functions of accounting and financial management. Basic managerial accounting principles are reviewed including cost accounting, budgeting at the department level, and an understanding of the roles of budget development and management as well as the role of fiscal control in sustaining the financial strength of healthcare organizations. Core concepts and practical applications in the healthcare revenue cycle and financial statement analysis important to health care managers, will be the focus. 3 Credits
