HUMA1010-Q Humanities: Art and Music (Spring 2013)

Course Details

Section "Q" of this class will serve as an introduction to the arts focusing primarily on the Western Cultural Tradition and will explore the characteristics, style, classification, form, and content of art through critical analysis and relationship to historical events. This course is a study abroad trip to Northern Ireland from May 12-26, 2013 and will include several meeting times in March, April, and May. The cost of any travel expenses are in addition to tuition."

Course Description

This course provides students with strategies for thinking critically about a variety of artistic and humane endeavors, including music, theater, the visual and literary arts. The texts and other works to be studied are chosen from a wide variety of times, places, and cultures; they are examined in terms of their generic features, their thematic content, and their relationships to their religious, cultural, and historical settings
