Course Description

This course provides students with an introduction to primary health care for children, where theories and concepts pertinent to the delivery of health care to children and adolescents are explored. Students develop skills and knowledge in the physical and developmental assessment of children. Emphasis is placed on the identification, assessment and management of health conditions in children and adolescents. The impact that these conditions have on children and their families is presented. Students develop an understanding of the physiologic rationale for treatment measures as well as the provision of physical and psychological care to children and families. Child development theories and issues are explored.

Prerequisites: NURS8130 and NURS9120

Co-requisite: NURS9145 3 Credits
