Course Description

This is a course designed for students with majors in several mathematics related areas. Topics covered include matrices, operations with matrices, inverses of matrices, singular and nonsingular matrices, linear systems, determinants and their properties, vectors, vector spaces, subspaces, linear independence, basis and dimension of a vector space, orthogonality, linear transformations, eigenvalues, and eigenvectors. Applications include Markov chains, equations of planes, areas of parallelograms and triangles, quadratic interpolation, balancing chemical equations, and global positioning systems.

Prerequisites: MATH2070 A C grade or Better is Required 3 Credits
