Course Description
This course explains the principles of managing engineers and their work in technology with a view towards developing more qualified technical managers. Engineers and scientists spend 2/3 of their professional careers managing technical people within technology infused organizations. This course is designed to help them become more effective managers of engineers, scientists and the technology that they often create and implement in their organizations. The course will cover an introduction to the Engineering Management discipline first and then go deeper into the functions of technology management that engineers and scientists should know. This will be reinforced by the product life cycle as part of the process of managing technology. The course will consist of discussions related to managing technical projects and engineering management career planning for achieving professional effectiveness in a technology infused work environment.
