Course Details

Section will be taught totally online with no scheduled class meetings. Students must arrange for daily access to a computer and the Internet prior to the start of classes. Robert Morris labs are to be used only as a backup in special situations and may not be relied upon for extended periods of time. In addition to the Internet link, online classes have a large emphasis on email. All messages from the instructor and other information regarding online classes, including user ids, passwords, and login instructions will be sent to your Robert Morris University email account. Course Description

This course addresses conceptual understanding and application of technology for planning and delivering instruction, and student use of technology to enhance learning. Discussion includes basic computer hardware and software terminology; societal, ethical, and legal issues regarding the use of technology; distance learning; and information systems to support educational organization. The course participant must demonstrate proficiency integrating educational technology appropriate to specific lessons, and must demonstrate an ability to teach students how to use technology to meet lesson objectives. Skills practiced in the overall technological and educational context include: word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software. In addition, other areas explored with hands-on experience include use of the Internet, educational software, digital media, video conferencing, electronic whiteboards, and other typical computer hardware.
