PSYC7070 - Child/Adolescent Counseling
Spring 2024
This course introduces students to the identification and diagnosis of general mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders of childhood and adolescents. Developmental, social, and cultural influences on diagnoses and treatment interventions will be considered. Topics of interest include: assessment & interviewing, therapeutic engagement, group techniques, anxiety disorders, social rejection, attachment disorders, depressive disorders, substance use, process addiction, self-injury, trauma related conditions, disruptive behavior disorders, family support, divorce, and resourcing strategies with school personnel.
