Thank you for your interest in Robert Morris University cheerleading. This site will provide you with information about the Colonial cheerleading and pom teams. If you need further assistance, please contact cheerleading@rmu.edu.

The Robert Morris University cheerleading program consists of two cheer teams, the Blue Team (all-girl competitive) and the White Team (open cheer). Both teams attend all home and select away men's and women's basketball and football games as well as postseason travel for tournaments. The RMU cheerleaders are non-scholarship but do not have any out of pocket expenses besides competition fees. The University provides all uniforms, shoes, travel bags, warm-ups, sports bras, practice clothes, poms, per diem while traveling, hotel accommodations and all other travel expenses in regard to game travel. Cheerleaders also receive priority scheduling.

BLUE TEAM

The all-girl competitive team cheers for all home and select away football and men's basketball games as well as postseason Northeast Conference (NEC) and NCAA men's and women's basketball tournaments. The team practices twice a week and all members are required to attend a mandatory workout two to three times a week.

Minimum tryout requirements include:

Tumbling - Minimum standing back-handspring and round-off back-handspring (workable round-off tuck and / or ROBH tuck)

Stunting - Arabesque full down, heel stretch, liberty and scorpion (All women must be versatile and be able to base, back or fly stunt)

Jumps - Toe-touch, hurdler and pike

WHITE TEAM

The White Team is open to males and females and cheer for all home football and women's basketball games as well as select postseason basketball tournaments. The squad practices once a week with the Blue Team, and members can be used as competitive team alternates. Members must have stunting experience and enjoy getting crowds involved in the sporting event they are cheering at. There are no tumbling requirements, however members are encouraged to attend tumbling practices.

Basic Requirements for RMU Cheerleaders:
