ATHLETIC FACILITIES
Charles L. Sewall Center (Capacity: 3,056)
This facility is home to RMU basketball, volleyball, and the indoor track and field teams. Features include multipurpose
courts used for both basketball and volleyball as well as a four-lane indoor track with facilities to handle all indoor
events. The Sewall Center is also home to one of three athletic training rooms and sports medicine facilities. The Center
for Leadership, located on the third floor, houses hospitality and meeting rooms for special events.
Joe Walton Stadium (Capacity: 3,000)
The newest athletic facility on campus, Joe Walton Stadium houses the football coaching staff, Olympic sport coaches and the
athletic administration. Teams that use Joe Walton Stadium as their home field include football, field hockey and lacrosse.
Amenities include a state-of-the-art weight room, athletic training room, three classrooms, press box and University box.
The playing surface features Field Turf, which is permanently lined for both football and soccer.
RMU Island Sports Center (Capacity: 1,000)
This Island Sports Center, located on Neville Island, Pa., is home to the Colonial ice hockey programs and women's crew and
also features an outdoor track and field. The ISC includes two indoor ice hockey playing surfaces, the Collegiate and Olympic
rinks, as well as two outdoor multi-sport rinks. A golf dome, batting cages and miniature golf course are also part of the complex.
North Athletic Complex (Capacity: 1,000)
This facility is home to the Robert Morris soccer, softball and tennis teams. There are two multi-purpose soccer fields as well
as a softball field and lighted tennis courts. Facilities are also available for outdoor recreational events.
SPORTS MEDICINE
In-Season Coverage
1. A certified athletic trainer or athletic trainer student will be present (on-site) during Robert Morris home in-season
contests.
2. All of RMU's three athletic training rooms (Sewall Center, Joe Walton Stadium, Island Sports Center) will have a certified
athletic trainer present or available via radio communication for the delivery of athletic training services to those sports
engaged in practice or those student-athletes who require physical rehabilition.
Out-of-Season Coverage
The athletic training office recognizes that a minimum standard of health care is due to student-athletes. A certified athletic
trainer will cover each home contest. However, in the event that an athletic trainer is not present, the head coach is responsible
for first aid and summoning emergency assistance.
VISITING FOOTBALL
Visiting sideline setup at Joe Walton Stadium will consist of four 10-gallon water coolers, a chest of ice, bags and cups. You
will have access to the visiting locker room two and-a-half hours before kickoff. There will be a taping table setup in the locker
room. There is also water, ice and a portable hot pack machine.
A Robert Morris team physician is present at all football games. All medical emergencies will be transported to nearby Sewickley
Valley Hospital. Visiting team athletic trainers will be contacted by phone during game week to inquire about and arrange for any
special medical needs.
SEWALL CENTER
Athletic training offices, athletic training room and locker rooms are located on the second floor and certified athletic trainers
are avialable for use 60 minutes before and after each event. The training room is equipped with a hydrocollator, electric stim,
ultrasound, whirlpools and ice.
EVENT SUPPLIES
For your convenience, Robert Morris will provide to you:
- Taping tables located in the Joe Walton Stadium / Sewall Center locker rooms or athletic training rooms.
- Ice bags and ice
- Water / liquids and cups
- Crutches and splints
Treatments are limited to athletes accompanied by an athletic trainer or a physician's prescription. Please call ahead and make
arrangements if your team is not accompanied by an athletic trainer.
