Keel, Sarnese Named to Men's Lacrosse CAA All-Rookie Team
Freshmen Frank Keel (Fort Defiance, Va. / James W. Robinson) and T.J. Sarnese (Horsham, Pa. / Hatsboro-Horsham) of the Robert Morris University men's lacrosse team became the first players in school history to garner postseason honors, as the pair were named to the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) All-Rookie Team.
Keel, a 6'1â€, 190-pound attackman, finished the 2006 season second on the club in goals (11), assists (5) and points (16). He also scored his 11 goals on just 31 shots, a shot percentage of 35.5 percent that ranked second on the team in regard to individuals with at least five goals. In his first collegiate game, Keel finished with two goals and an assist in a 9-1 win over Seton Hill (2/18/06).
Sarnese, a 6'0â€, 185-pound midfielder, quickly worked his way to becoming the club's most consistent faceoff man, as he won 65 of his 145 opportunities, a success rate of 44.8 percent. Sarnese also finished third on the club in ground balls with 35 in 14 games, including 10 starts.
Robert Morris, under the direction of head coach Kenneth “Bear†Davis, played its inaugural season as a member of the CAA in 2006 as well as just its second season of Division I lacrosse.
