Course Description

This course provides students with a framework to analyze professional sports. The course will be focused on economic analysis of sports--primarily football, basketball, baseball, and hockey. Economic theory will be employed to explain and evaluate such issues as industry growth and change, labor market activity, antitrust concerns, and the role of the local government in franchise and facility development. While the primary focus will be on U.S. sports, students will also be expected to demonstrate an understanding of economic issues involved in international sports.

Prerequisites: ECON1010 or [ECON1020 and ECON1030]
