This course provides students with strategies for thinking critically about a variety of artistic and humane endeavors, including music, theater, the visual and literary arts. The texts and other works to be studied are chosen from a wide variety of times, places, and cultures; they are examined in terms of their generic features, their thematic content, and their relationships to their religious, cultural, and historical settings
