NURS9110 - Psychopharmacology

This course expands on the knowledge obtained from the Advanced Pharmacology and Principles of Biological Psychiatry courses and emphasizes pharmacologic principles of psychiatric medications. Classroom learning provides a comprehensive overview of the classes, indications, interactions, and side effects of psychotropic medications. Emphasis will be placed on utilizing evidence-based practice findings to prescribe psychotropic medications to patients with psychiatric disorders as well as considerations of using psychotropic medications with vulnerable populations including children, adolescent, and elderly patients.
