NURS7040 - Health Policy and Economics
Summer 2020
This course provides an overview of policy mechanisms (legislative, regulatory, and private) that shape the way health care is delivered in the U.S. in the context of economic principles and theory that influence health policy. The course will show how policy translates into practice in the context of payment for health care and how health policy influences and shapes the way that health care is delivered. The course will introduce students to health care delivery systems and models, organizational theory and organizational change strategies. The course will challenge students to consider health policy issues of the future such as national health insurance, shortages of medical care professionals and facilities and the effective use of resources in a resource-limited environment.
