The student will be introduced to different methods of improving quality management such as Total Quality Management, Lean Management and Plan-Do-Check Act (PDCA) Cycle. The students will closely examine the two landmarks reports by the Institute of Medicine (IOM), To Err is Human and Crossing the Quality Chasm, leading to the understanding of the IOM's goals to make quality health care more safe, timely, effective, equitable, efficient, and patient-centered.
