CHEM1220 - Introduction Chemistry

Summer 2021

This course is an introductory (1 semester) study of the nature of atoms and molecules, bonding, properties of gasses and solutions, chemical reactions, acids/bases, thermodynamics, kinetics, and equilibria. The course demonstrates the usefulness of chemistry to broadly related fields of study including health care, nutrition, environmental science, business, economics, etc. The course also shows not only that chemistry provides the basis for much that goes on in the world but also is a vital continually developing science. This exposure is designed to allow the student to obtain a sufficient understanding of these topics such that he/she can obtain the requisite knowledge and problem solving experience for a variety of upper level courses.
