RMU engages students, faculty and staff in a variety of volunteer opportunities on– and off-campus. One-time and ongoing projects are available.
Community Service Opportunities
The Office of Student Civic Engagement serves as a drop-in center for students to sign up for volunteer opportunities and help plan service projects in which they are interested. Volunteer opportunities are publicized via information fairs, newsletters, e-mail blasts and flyers. A small sampling of volunteer projects includes:
- Blood drives
- Mentoring/tutoring Children
- Fundraising walks for a cause
- Home building/repairs for low income/elderly
- Food & toy collections

- Recreational activities with children/youth
- Nursing home visits
- Planting flowers with the parks conservancy
- Voter registration drives
- Taking care of animals
- Serving meals at homeless shelters

The Office of Student Civic Engagement is also a resource for your group or organization on campus. Have you thought about volunteering but don’t know where to begin? Stop by the OSCE office and discuss the possibilities of your organization making a positive impact in this community.

Service Learning
The Office of Student Civic Engagement partners with the Dean of Engaged Learning and serves as a resource for faculty members who offer Service-Learning course components in a variety of disciplines.
