Moon Township, Pa. -- Robert Morris University’s (RMU) School of Education and Social Sciences has announced three new degree programs for 2009.

Beginning in January, the school will offer RMU’s first totally online undergraduate program in applied psychology. This program is designed for nontraditional students who are either beginning their college careers or have earned an associate degree. Graduates will be qualified for a variety of positions in the field of psychology and/or may pursue graduate work.

Beginning in the fall 2009 semester, the school will offer two new online master’s degrees: one in instructional leadership (IL), and one in business education (BE). The IL program is a new 30-credit online degree designed for current teachers to complete their master’s degrees as quickly and conveniently as possible. The BE program is intended for business educators at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, and allows graduate students to select from a wide array of courses designed to enhance K-12 student performance through effective classroom instruction

“The addition of these three new online programs is very exciting for our school and another great advantage for our students,” said John E. Graham, dean of the School of Education and Social Sciences. “The online delivery mode of instruction will enable our nontraditional students to earn a degree at times that fit their personal and professional schedules.”

The school comprises RMU’s departments of Secondary Education and Graduate Studies, Elementary Education, and Social Sciences. In addition to these new online programs, the school currently offers four undergraduate degree programs, a doctoral degree program, two master’s programs, two minors and one certificate program.
