Pittsburgh BoardnetUSA

The Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management is proud to offer, at no cost, an innovative and revolutionary board-recruiting tool. BoardnetUSA is a national Internet database that links interested corporate candidates with nonprofit boards seeking new members. Pittsburgh was selected as a pilot city for this exciting new service because of its rich corporate and nonprofit communities as well as its vibrant core of training and support organizations for nonprofit boards.

BoardnetUSA is a national program designed and built by the Volunteer Consulting Group in New York City in 1999 to serve both the for-profit and nonprofit communities. The for-profit community benefits with low-cost, high-impact leadership experience for fast track, high potential executives. BoardnetUSA provides these executives with a database of information to make nonprofit board selection easier and fully anonymous until the final match is made. BoardnetUSA serves the nonprofit community by widening the pool of candidates, enabling nonprofits to tailor a search for board members to meet very specific needs.

Whether or not you are currently looking for new board members, boardnetUSA gives your organization access to the corporate community. The connection can bring new business insight and expertise to your organization. To become part of this exciting project (for free!) please follow the directions below:

Nonprofit Registration (the process should take 15 minutes):
To create a profile, you will need your organization's EIN (tax ID number) and the ruling year of your 501(c)3 status. If you do not have this information, you can look it up at www.guidestar.com.

  1. Go to www.boardnetusa.org
  2. Follow the link to "Find a Board Member".
  3. Follow the links to the registration pages, which will guide you through the process. (Be as descriptive and specific as possible about your organization and its board needs.)
  4. If you have any questions or problems during the registration process or are a for-profit professional interested in board service, contact the Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management.
