Internships or Co-ops: I work as a tutor in the tutoring center at RMU.
Clubs or sports: I play on the women’s Division I ice hockey team. I am also in the Psychology Honor Society (Psi Chi).
Why did you choose RMU?
I chose RMU initially because I was recruited for their ice hockey program. After my official visit I fell in love with the campus, and the small school with a big city atmosphere. I like that the classroom sizes are small, yet it is in a huge city where you can partake in those types of activities just like a big school.
What do you like best about the School of Education and Social Sciences?
I like the professors that are in this field of study. The psychology professors are so easy to approach if you have questions or need help. They are always thinking of the students’ best interests.
Why would you recommend RMU to other students?
I would recommend RMU for the same reasons I came here. The quality of education that you receive because of the small student to teacher ratio is exceptional compared to those huge schools where the professor doesn’t even know you. The area surrounding RMU is also ideal. There are just so many things that RMU has done for me that have helped me mature as a person. It has opened doors for me that I never even knew existed. At the end of the day I realize that it is a privilege to be a part of this — for playing hockey at a collegiate level and getting an education at RMU.
What do you think is RMU’s best aspect?
The atmosphere of the school is by far one of the best aspects. Every sports team is Division 1 and there is always a game to go to or some activity going on. The small population provides such a welcoming environment to others. Even the fact that Pittsburgh is home to the Steelers and the Penguins makes RMU such a good place to be.
What’s RMU’s best-kept secret?
The hockey arena off campus. The facility is top notch, and after traveling to many universities throughout my college career, I am very fortunate to have such an amazing home rink to come back to.
If you could describe RMU in one word, what would it be?
Exciting.
