SEARCHING THE LIBRARY CATALOG (ROBCAT)
If you are looking for a particular government document, you can search the Library catalog (ROBCAT) by title, author (government agency), or keyword.

First, go to ROBCAT, the Library Catalog. Next, select "Set Search Limits."



From there you can limit your search to materials in the Government Documents Collection, exclusively. 

After selecting the Government Documents Limiter, click on "Set Limits." When looking for a specific government document, (i.e. a Senate Hearing), use a combination of one keyword (topic) and a second keyword (type of information) to locate the government document you need.







SEARCHING THE WEB FOR GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS
RMU Libraries collect approximately 30% of the material published by the U.S. Government Printing Office. Many government publications are now available on the Web. Therefore, if you do not locate the government document you need, try searching any of the following:

GPO Access: Catalog of U.S. Government Documents

Federal Resources by Topic (GPO)

FirstGov.gov (The official U.S. government Web portal)

Library of Congress: THOMAS.gov

Google U.S. Government Research

Core Documents of U.S. Democracy

University of Michigan Documents Center

UNDERSTANDING ROBCAT SEARCH RESULTS
Once you have searched ROBCAT and found the material you need, write down the title and superintendant of documents (Su Doc) call number and the location of the item. Government Documents are collected by our library in a variety of formats -- print, electronic, microfiche.
