Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find the full-text article of something I found in ProQuest?
To see whether we have access to a particular journal article through another database or in the RMU print periodicals collection, go to Find Journals @ RMU. Type the name of the journal [or magazine or newspaper title] into the search box. If we have access to the journal through another article database, a link to that database will appear. If we have the journal in our print collection, the note "RMU Moon Campus Periodicals" or "RMU Pittsburgh Center Periodicals" will be displayed.

Pay particular attention to which years are available through which database, as sometimes a database will include a particular journal, but not matching the time frame that you need.

If you do not locate the full-text of the journal article you need, you can submit an interlibrary loan request or contact a reference librarian for further information.

I have been trying to print the .pdf of an article I found in EBSCO but the first page is not printing. What's up with that?!
EBSCO informs us that this an Adobe Acrobat / Microsoft compatibility glitch. It is generally fixed by clicking on the save icon in Acrobat Reader and downloading the article to the desktop, temp drive, etc. and then reopening the .pdf document and printing it from there (rather than from your browser window). Please inform us if you continue to have any trouble with this.

Am I able to borrow books from the University of Pittsburgh's library?
Yes and no. Unfortunately, the University of Pittsburgh has chosen not to participate in the regional resource sharing programs (such as PALINET and PALCI) that allow RMU students to borrow books on site from most of the college and university libraries in the Pittsburgh area.

In many cases however, RMU students can obtain books from the University of Pittsburgh's collection (usually within two to four days) through interlibrary loan requests placed through the EZ-Borrow system.

Can I renew library materials from other libraries?
If you have checked out materials from other libraries through the EZ-Borrow system, those materials have already been checked out to you for the maximum loan period of 40 days. If you have obtained library materials through our traditional interlibrary loan service, you can usually extend the loan period for those items; this is variable because it is determined by the lending library. Contact interlibraryloan@rmu.edu for more details.

How do I see what movies the Library has?
Locations and descriptions of media items can be found using ROBCAT. Media is located in the Media Services Room on the 2nd Floor of the Library (4th Floor of Patrick Henry Center).

To limit your search in ROBCAT to videos or DVDs, select "Set Limits" on the ROBCAT keyword search page; under location, choose "Media Library, "DVD Movies," or "Video Collection."

Who handles copyright issues related to eReserves?
