-- RMU is hosting its annual Fall Blood Drive in partnership with Central Blood Bank from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27 in the John Jay Gym.  Your participation is needed to help make the drive a success. Walk-ins are welcome, but if you wish make an appointment please email andersond@rmu.edu your cell phone number (required for online registration) and your preferred time. The entire donation process should take no more than one hour. Your participation will help save lives and you will be modeling active community involvement for our students. Thank you ahead of time for your participation.

-- The Career and Professional Development Center will host the Pittsburgh Industry Career Launch Job Fair at Yorktown Hall on Sept. 28 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Students of all majors will have the opportunity to connect with local and regional recruiters from over 90 companies and organizations looking for interns and full-time hires. 

PERSONAL MENTION

-- Engineering professor Ben Campbell has received a two-semester research grant from MECCO, a company specializing in laser engraving, laser marking, and pin marking systems. Campbell will study laser welding while using a laser marking system on loan from MECCO to the university’s engineering department. 

-- Health services administration professor Steve Forman gave a presentation on “The Accuracy of State NCLEX RN Passing Standards for Nursing Programs” at the statewide meeting of the PA Higher Education in Nursing Schools Association earlier this week. The presentation provided the foundation for regulatory changes in state boards of nursing. 

-- Part-time Media Arts instructor Michael Smithhammer, and his wife Fuyuko Matsubara will be exhibiting two-dimensional works of art at the 4th annual Artist Market in Mt Lebanon this weekend, Sept. 23-24. Smithhammer's work consists of a combination of drawing, painting, photography and paper cutting mounted with acrylic on panel. Matsubara's works are painted images on silk. The images, ideas and energy have a relationship that has developed like their marriage over 30 years. UPCOMING EVENTS

-- The Saudi Club will celebrate the 87th Saudi National Day from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 22, in the Sewall Center. Authentic food will be served, and traditional songs and dances will be performed. All are welcome to attend this free event.

-- Colonial Theatre presents Evita, a musical about the life of Argentine political leader Eva Perón, the second wife of Argentine president Juan Perón. The show will run from Sept. 27 to Oct. 1. Reserve tickets here
