Murat Tiryakioglu, Ph.D., C.Q.E.
Professor of Engineering
A member of the RMU faculty since Fall 2001, Dr. Tiryakioglu previously served on the faculty at Western Kentucky University, where he founded the Advanced Manufacturing Institute. He previously worked for Boeing as an advanced technology analyst. He has a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Bogazici University in Turkey, an M.S. and Ph.D. in engineering management from the University of Missouri-Rolla and a Ph.D. in metallurgy and materials science from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom. He has been recognized as a Young Leader by TMS and an Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer by SME. His research interests include metal casting, heat treatment, metallurgical modeling and statistical modeling and experimentation. Dr. Tiryakioğlu is the author of more than 40 technical papers in materials processing and has edited the proceedings of five international symposia. He has served as a consultant to companies, including Alcoa, Tyco, Sumitomo, Ford, General Motors and Daimler-Chrysler.
